Drive right. PLEASE drive right.

Did you see the back page of the May 4 Medical Examiner? Were you surprised to read that, legally, all traffic is supposed to stay in the right hand lane, with just a few temporary exceptions? True, indeed. If you don’t believe us, read the excerpted laws, right there on page 16 of the aforementioned issue. It is a little hard to believe when sometimes it seems like the majority of drivers drive in the left lane, even if they’re texting, puttering along at well below the speed limit, painting their toenails while driving, etc.

Well, here’s graphic proof that safety is enhanced by staying as far away from oncoming traffic as possible. You’ll notice at the :17 second mark that the van drifts into the little ridge of snow separating opposing lanes of traffic. That’s all she wrote.

Bottom line: the law and logic – and common sense – state that it’s safer to stay in the right lane. Drive right. Pass left. Remember that.
