GRANOLA: some assembly required

As promised in today’s issue of the Medical Examiner (be sure to check out an entire article about granola), here’s the Medical Examiner’s personal favorite granola. Homemade. Delicious. Nutritious. Salubrious, of course. The M.E. is, after all, Augusta’s Most Salubrious Newspaper. Plus this stuff is ridiculously easy to prepare. Throw all the dry ingredients into a large bowl. Stir ’em up. Add the un-dry ingredients (oil and honey). Bake. Cool. Eat. That’s about it.

MY – OOPS – M.E. GRANOLA
5 cups quick oatmeal
1 cup wheat bran
1 cup wheat germ
1 cup canola oil
1 cup honey
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon cocoa powder (optional)
1 cup chopped walnuts

Mix oats, bran, wheat germ, cinnamon and cocoa together.
Add and stir in oil and honey.
Mix in walnuts.

Bake 30 minutes at 350° (use something like a 2″ deep sheet cake pan)
Stir while cooling.
Store in an airtight container.

Below: a suggested serving. Skip the berries and raisins, or add even more. Blueberries work great, too.

Please enjoy responsibly
