Oh, that reminds me: I HATE TELEVANGELISTS.
I despise these people. I loathe them.
I clicked around a little on this freshly departed person, and it’s the same old tale: sex scandals (in this case, allegations of a gay tryst) and lavish lifestyles. His salary was $400,000 a year, his wife’s $375,000. They owned private jets and more than a dozen mansions, most usually unoccupied, several of them side-by-side, where they lived separately as next door neighbors (giving some credence to the alleged gay affair, which was settled out of court for an undisclosed sum). There were stories from respected news organizations like the New York Times and the Orange County Register of embezzlements, of dishonest tax-evasion tricks (like ordaining everyone on staff so their inflated salaries would not be subject to taxation) and non-profit improprieties involving millions of dollars.
If Christian means “Christ-like,” these people are not Christians. I wonder how many millions of dollars people like this have extorted from their flocks. And how many millions of people they have turned away from spiritual things.
And the hair. Always with the hair. What is it with televangelists and hair???
And while Paul and Jan Crouch lived their luxurious lives, she urged their followers to send in their grocery money “to God.” Translation: “to my greedy husband and me.”
How disgusting.
