Got one minute? Watch this. It might save a life, maybe even yours on some future day when seconds count. And if you think this information should be filed under “Duh,” ask any firefighter, EMT, or paramedic if this problem ever comes up as they respond to the scene of accidents and fires. About a year ago on Highway 1 in Graniteville, SC, I saw an ambulance with lights and siren activated tailgating a slow-moving truck in the left lane (with “Jackson Welding” painted on the doors) for more than a minute before the lumbering truck finally got out of the way and into the right lane. That is criminal. Literally.
Here’s the rule, and it’s simple: PULL TO THE RIGHT FOR SIRENS AND LIGHTS.
Thanks, Tuscaloosa Fire & Rescue, for the reminder.
And they didn’t even say “si-reens.”
