The Medical Examiner wants your opinion. The death of Brittany Maynard of Oregon earlier this month made international headlines. As you will recall, she had terminal brain cancer and in April of this year was told she had approximately six months to live. She chose to end her life rather than go through the final stages of dying from brain cancer.

What do you think of her decision to end her life prematurely? Have you given thought to what you might have done in her situation? Do you believe her cause of death was (or should officially be) cancer, or suicide? Personally, do you think suicide is always wrong, or that it is justified in some situations? What is your religion’s viewpoint on suicide? Do you agree with it? Do you think assisted suicide is morally wrong, or that it should be legalized? In your view, is there a “right” to die? Do you view this subject as a legal issue, a moral/religious issue, or a medical issue?
