As regular visitors well know, Thursdays are reserved in this spot for music therapy. On the half-dozen or so other websites that comprise the World Wide Web, today is tbt, a.k.a. Throwback Thursday. Well, let’s combine the two for this sterling musical blast from the past by Nashville’s great erstwhile band (1971-1977) Barefoot Jerry. This was just one of the excellent songs on their 1974 album, Watchin’ TV, (not to be confused with the album’s song entitled, “Watchin’ TV With the Radio On”). This one, Mother Nature’s Way of Saying High, is a superb paean to summer and nature and the great outdoors.
You say you’ve never heard of Barefoot Jerry? Don’t be too sure. They are mentioned in the Charlie Daniels Band (CDB) tune The South is Gonna Do It Again: “All the good people in Tennessee are diggin’ Barefoot Jerry and CDB.”
