Here at the world headquarters of the Medical Examiner, our view is that the name GRU itself is only a tiny part of this fiasco. We don’t like the name, but it’s beyond that. There’s something about being asked for your opinion and then having that opinion completely ignored that instills a certain reluctance to acquiesce. Then you have the unbridled arrogance of everyone on the side of GRU. Dr. D’Azziz saying “we’ve moved on.” Regent Hopkins and other regents telling the Augusta media last week that “the decision is final.” Even with the federal lawsuit filed by Regent University hanging over their heads, regents are publicly stonewalling, willing to spend potentially millions of tax dollars fighting for and defending a name that is already taken and is unpopular to boot. Translation: stubbornness and arrogance, pure and simple. Why wouldn’t everyone call and say they oppose that?
