As a parent, you are the most important human being in your child’s world. You’re the center of their universe. They view you like some people view God: all-wise, all-powerful. “Dad, you’re the strongest man in the whole world!” They will even fight other kids who say their dad is the strongest. They think what you do is what everyone should do – and it’s what they want to do when they grow up. Your example speaks louder than any words you can ever say.
So. If you have kids, little kids especially, do you really think you should smoke? Statistically, most smokers want to quit. Some have been wanting to quit for years. I know smokers personally who say they regret to this day picking up that first cigarette. Yet they’re still smoking. They say they’re going to quit. And they’re right: one way or the other, eventually everybody quits.
The question again, though: do you want, by example, to send your kids down the road you’re on?
You don’t really need to answer that. Why? You’re doing it already. Every day. Right this minute.
