What, you didn’t know that? As you can see, that is the message of this week’s Public Service Announcement from Canada. Sure, texting while driving is illegal and presumably not practiced by law abiding motorists. But nobody ever said anything about reading texts while driving. That can be just as dangerous. It distracts you from driving. It causes you to look away from the road. If at night as illustrated, it can affect your visual acuity when you look back to the road. The message is clear: if you don’t text while driving, don’t cancel those benefits by reading texts while driving!
