And that, boys and girls, means it’s time for another installment of I HATE MONDAY! Let’s see… what shall we despise today?
I know! RUDE PEOPLE. We have flat gone off on rude people before – although we did it politely – in the pages of the Medical Examiner. We called them Retail Terrorists, because they often take their rudeness out upon store clerks cashiers, waitresses, and receptionists, to name a few. They badger people to get their way, to finagle discounts, to wrangle returns without receipts when receipt-only is store policy, to complain about the most insignificant things, and in ways large and small, to get their way.
They certainly try the patience of the civilized people they encounter as they rudely badger and bully their way through life.
Brings to mind the scene from The Wizard of Oz when Auntie Em said (to the wicked lady who took Toto away) something like, “For thirty years I’ve wanted to tell you exactly what I think of you, and now because I’m a Christian woman I can’t.”
This is a valid response to rudeness.
