I Hate Monday

FOX 13 News
The shooting this afternoon at a movie theater not too far from Tampa is using an extreme solution on a trivial problem, but on a theoretical level I can relate: I just went to the movies Friday night, and sitting next to me were four or five teenagers who talked, texted, took screen shots of the movie with their phones, jumped from one seat to the next, and left the theater and returned at least four times in a 1-hour, 45-minute movie. I think the term is Short Attention-Span Theater. As annoying as it might have been, I can’t fathom how these petty issues could lead to a fatal outcome, but they did.

On the one hand, how about some manners in the theater? It’s not a place to talk or text. It’s not too much to ask out of respect for others in the theater. On the other hand, I’m sure the shooter will wish for the rest of his life that he had simply moved to a different seat several rows away.

This is a Monday several families on both sides of this sad and needless situation will mourn and hate for decades to come.
